Implants
A permanent solution for missing teeth
Dental implants give you back what you lost — a tooth that looks, feels, and works just like your own. Unlike bridges, no neighboring teeth need to be altered. With proper care, an implant can last a lifetime.
What We Offer
Implant treatments tailored to your case
From a single missing tooth to a full arch, we plan every implant around your jaw, your bite, and your timeline.
Single Tooth Implants
A titanium post placed in the jaw bone, topped with a custom crown. The most natural-feeling replacement for a single missing tooth — and the only restoration that prevents bone loss.
Mini Implants
About half the diameter of a standard implant. Ideal for narrow spaces between teeth, often placed without an incision, with a much shorter recovery.
Implant-Supported Dentures
A full upper or lower set of teeth anchored to 4–6 mini implants along the gum line. Stays in place when you eat and speak — no adhesive, no shifting.
Bone Grafting
Builds up the jaw bone to support an implant. Graft material can come from another spot in your own mouth or from a screened bone bank — your body grows new bone into the area as it heals.
Sinus Augmentation
In the upper back jaw, the sinus floor often sits too low for an implant. We lift it and add graft material in the gap — a highly predictable procedure (over 95% success) with implants placed once the area has healed.
Ridge Augmentation
After tooth loss, the jaw bone where the socket was tends to deteriorate. Ridge augmentation rebuilds the area with graft material so future implants have firm support and a natural-looking gum line.
What to Expect
Four steps from consultation to a new smile
Consultation
3D imaging, exam, and a clear written treatment plan — including timeline and cost.
Implant Placement
The titanium post is placed in the jaw under local anesthesia. Sedation options are available.
Healing
3–6 months while bone fuses with the implant (osseointegration). A temporary crown can keep your smile intact.
Restoration
An abutment and custom crown are placed on the healed implant — your new tooth is ready.
Implant Systems We Use
Modern tools for precise, predictable results
We invest in proven systems that take guesswork out of placement and healing — so your implant lasts.
Osstell
Osstell ISQ measures implant stability on a universal scale, so we know objectively when an implant is ready for its crown — no premature loading, fewer surprises.
Simplant
Simplant 3D planning lets us pinpoint the exact position of each implant before any incision is made — a more precise placement, less invasive procedure, faster recovery.
FAQ
Common questions about implants
What is a dental implant?
A titanium post placed in your jaw that acts as the root of a new tooth. An abutment and a custom crown attach on top — the result looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth.
How are implants different from dentures?
Dentures are removable and rest on the gums. Implants are permanent — you brush and floss them like real teeth, and they don't shift when you eat or speak.
What are the benefits?
Implants look and behave like natural teeth and can last a lifetime with proper care. Unlike bridges, they don't require altering neighboring teeth. And because they preserve the jaw bone, they help maintain the natural contours of your face — something long-term denture wearers tend to lose over time.
Does Wayside Family Dental place implants?
Yes. Dr. Onyski performs implants at our Sanford office. At your consultation we review your full case — including any related procedures like grafting — and walk you through the timeline before anything is scheduled.
How much do implants cost?
Cost depends on how many implants you need, whether grafting is required, and your insurance coverage. We give you a clear written estimate at your consultation, along with CareCredit and other financing options.
Do implants hurt?
No. Local anesthesia keeps you comfortable during placement, and most patients describe recovery as easier than a tooth extraction. If you feel anxious, ask us about sedation options at your consultation.
How long do implants last?
With regular brushing, flossing, and dental visits, implants can last a lifetime.
